Website design

What’s my day job? I run Avoca Web Design a Nelson based website design agency. We work with creative businesses, arts and education organisations and environmental / science organisations. It’s a lot of fun helping folks develop amazing websites.

We build beautiful and performant websites with WordPress and Statamic.

Irish traditional music

What did I think my day job was going to be when I was in my early twenties? I grew up listening to Irish music and got seriously into it in my late teens. I have a masters in traditional Irish Music Performance from the university of Limerick and a “tui”, NZ music award for best folk album.

But mostly I just love playing the flute. And lately the tenor guitar. You’ll find me in Irish music sessions in Nelson any time of the year.

If you’re keen to hear great Irish music, don’t miss Ceol Aneas, NZ’s only dedicated Irish music festival in Whakatū over Kings birthday weekend.

Running, hiking & nerding out on gear

I’m never happier than when I’m in Aotearoa’s wilder places. I love the experience of being out there, whether that’s on a run or a multiday tramp. I’ve a couple of ultra marathons under my belt and am stepping into fastpacking adventures.

I’m also a sucker for nerding out on the gear I take. It’s one of the perks of the sport.
